Invisible Braces (Clear Aligner Therapy)

Invisible braces, also known as clear aligner therapy, offer a discreet and comfortable way to straighten your teeth—without traditional metal braces. Most commonly recognized as Invisalign, this treatment uses a series of custom-made, clear aligners designed specifically for your smile.

How It Works

Each aligner is made of smooth, virtually invisible plastic that fits snugly over your teeth. As you progress through the series, the aligners gently and gradually shift your teeth into their ideal position according to a customized treatment plan created by your doctor.

While there are several clear aligner systems available, we proudly utilize Invisalign. With advanced digital scanning technology, detailed 3D images of your teeth—no messy impressions required—are captured and securely sent to Invisalign to fabricate your custom aligners.

Treatment Information

Patients undergoing Invisalign treatment are instructed to wear their aligners 22 hours per day. Aligners should only be removed when eating, drinking (anything other than water), brushing, and flossing.

  • Appointments are typically scheduled every six weeks.
  • Patients are usually provided with two sets of aligners at a time.
  • Each set is worn for approximately three weeks, as directed.
  • It is normal to feel pressure when starting a new aligner; this indicates the teeth are moving. The sensation gradually subsides as the aligner is worn.

Once treatment is complete, patients receive their final aligners to use as retainers. Retainers are recommended for long-term wear—typically at night—to maintain your beautifully aligned smile. They can easily be replaced if lost or worn over time.

Considerations of Clear Aligners

Limitations of Movement
Clear aligners are ideal for many cases but may not be suitable for more complex orthodontic movements.

Compliance
Because aligners are removable, success depends on consistent wear. Not wearing them as prescribed can delay treatment or cause aligners to stop fitting properly. This is especially important for adolescent patients.

Tooth Modifications

In some cases, minor tooth modifications are necessary to achieve optimal results.

Engagers (Attachments)
Small, tooth-colored resin shapes may be bonded to certain teeth to help the aligners apply precise pressure. These are removed at the end of treatment.

Interproximal Reduction (IPR)
IPR involves gently polishing a minimal amount of enamel (approximately 0.1mm–0.3mm per visit) between teeth to create space for proper alignment. This procedure is conservative and typically does not cause significant sensitivity or increase the risk of decay.
