Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening (also known as “bleaching”) is a cost-effective and safe way to create a brighter, more confident smile.

Details Make The Difference

Today’s professional whitening systems are formulated with fluoride to help minimize tooth and gum sensitivity. For the safest and most effective results, whitening should always be completed under a dentist’s supervision and only after a comprehensive exam and professional hygiene cleaning.

With proper care, your whitening results can last for years. However, beverages such as coffee, tea, cola, and red wine can shorten the longevity of your results. A good rule of thumb: if it can stain a white shirt, it can stain your smile!

What Does Teeth Whitening Involve?

Professional teeth whitening typically requires two visits:

First Appointment

Impressions (molds) are taken of your teeth to create custom, clear plastic trays designed specifically for your smile.

Second Appointment

You’ll try in your trays to ensure a precise, comfortable fit. Any necessary adjustments will be made at this time. You’ll receive a professional-strength whitening solution and instructions for use.

The trays are worn with the whitening gel either twice a day for about 30 minutes, or overnight.

Treatment usually continues for a couple of weeks, depending on the degree of staining and your desired level of whitening.

After Whitening

It’s normal to experience mild tooth sensitivity during the whitening process. This sensitivity is temporary and typically subsides shortly after treatment is completed. Brushing with a desensitizing toothpaste such as Sensodyne can help minimize discomfort during treatment.
